Sarah Snook would love to be involved with The Picture of Dorian Gray film adaptation

Sarah Snook has won a Olivier and a Tony for her performance.

Sarah Snook would love to be involved with the film adaptation of her one-woman play The Picture of Dorian Gray.

It was announced last year that Cate Blanchett’s production company Dirty Films had acquired the film rights to the Sydney Theatre Company’s stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic novel.

Snook, who plays all 26 different roles in the stylised production, won an Olivier Award for her work in the show’s London run and scooped the Tony Award for Best Performance By a Leading Actress in a Play for the Broadway stint on Sunday.

Speaking in the press room after her win, the Succession star told reporters that she had no idea how the production could work as a film.

“I have no idea (about the film). I know as much as you do in terms of where that is (in development),” she said, according to a video posted on social media by Deadline.

“I don’t know how this gets turned into a film. It’s a particularly complex piece to do as a theatre show. I mean, dramaturgically it holds up and I think Kip (Williams, the show’s director) would be an incredible director for that project.”

The Australian actress then addressed her potential involvement, adding, “If I were to be a part of that, it would be a dream come true, but who knows?”

According to Deadline’s original report, Blanchett’s husband and Dirty Films production partner Andrew Upton is working with Williams on a treatment based on the highly technical show. The project is said to be in the early stages of development.

Blanchett and Upton were the artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company from 2008 to 2013, while Williams held the role between 2016 and 2024.
