Bad Behaviour

Narrative plays second fiddle to acting, situation and atmosphere in this contemporary comedy centering around a group of North Londoners. Featured players include Stephen Rea and Sinead Cusack as Gerry and Ellie McAllister, a middle-aged couple, grappling with the problems of life, work, children and how to get their bathroom fixed. He's a district planning officer and amateur cartoonist; she balances a part-time job in a book store with the demands of raising a family. Couple mid-life crises with the onslaught of a pair of crooked, iden- tical twin bathroom renovators (Phil Daniels), and the real domestic problems begin. Of the story: "Working from an improvised script, helmer Les Blair juggles his small cast around with great dexterity; this is a group of mild eccentrics you want to follow through to the end."
