From the director of "SECRETS & LIES," comes a backstage drama celebrating the work of William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. For 13 years, their collaborations had delighted the English populace at the Savoy Theatre, and recouped handsomely for the D'Oyly Arte Opera Company. But in 1884, while a London heat wave cuts into business, the two men find themselves mired at a creative impasse, until Gilbert's wife drags him to a Japanese exhibition. Inspiration strikes and Gilbert and Sullivan rebound, crafting "The Mikado." From there the really hard work begins -- mounting the production and getting several dozen actors and crew to work cohesively and bring "The Mikado" from page to screen. Featured players include Jim ("LITTLE VOICE") Broadbent, Allan ("THE IMPOSTORS") Corduner, and "SECRETS & LIES" co-sars Ron Cook, Timothy Spall and Lesley Manville.
