The Ballad Of Jack And Rose

Jack (Daniel Day-Lewis), is a single widower father who has raised his 16-year-old daughter, Rose (Camilla Belle), in a long-abandoned commune on a remote island in Northwest Canada. Jack is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and faced with the knowledge that his daughter will soon need to be able to cope with the real world, Jack starts to try to expand her horizons and awareness of how the world works. To help in that process, Jack brings a lover (Catherine Keener) back from the mainland, who moves to the commune with her two teen sons who themselves help introduce Rose to the wonders (and pains) of unbridled teen love. Day-Lewis's real-life spouse Rebecca Miller writes and directs, her first film since 2002's "PERSONAL VELOCITY."
