Elizabeth Reaser felt ‘a trust’ with Pedro Pascal while filming The Uninvited

Elizabeth Reaser found it easy to establish a sense of history with Pedro Pascal because they’ve known each other for about 30 years.
Elizabeth Reaser found it “really easy” to shoot intense dramatic scenes with Pedro Pascal for The Uninvited because they had “a trust” with each other.
In the new film, the Twilight star plays Rose, a fading actress-turned-homemaker, who throws a garden party with her agent husband Sammy (Walton Goggins) in Los Angeles.
The party goes awry following the arrival of Rose’s movie star ex Lucien (Pascal) and a confused elderly woman who believes she lives there.
During an interview with Cover Media, Reaser explained that it was “really easy” to establish a sense of history between Rose and Lucien because she and Pascal had known each other for a long time.
“We rehearsed (the scenes), but also I’ve known Pedro I think for like 30 years or something,” she shared. “I just know him, he’s been around forever and we’ve both been around forever. So there’s a trust, like I just see him, he sees (me), we get each other. I think that’s the beauty of knowing people for a long time, even if you’re not close, there’s such an understanding of our culture and our world and his inner life and mine.”
The Haunting of Hill House star added that one of her favourite scenes in the film is a conversation Rose and Lucien have about the end of their relationship and her acting opportunities drying up.
“The scene in the alley with Pedro when he asks me why I stopped acting, as if it was my choice, I thought was just phenomenal, in terms of what it conveyed,” she said. “It felt very real to me and just to how oblivious he is to what it is to be a woman or an actress. It just killed me.”
The Uninvited is in cinemas from Friday 9 May (theuninvited.movie).
