Aaron Taylor-Johnson reunites with Matthew Vaughn for Kingsman prequel

Gemma Arterton, Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans and Harris Dickinson are also set to feature in the prequel.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is teaming up once again with his Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn for the Kingsman prequel.

The Nocturnal Animals actor is reuniting with moviemaker, who he worked on the 2010 superhero comedy, on Kingsman: The Great Game, a prequel to Vaughn's Kingsman instalments, The Secret Service and The Golden Circle, which were released in 2014 and 2017, respectively.

According to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, Taylor-Johnson is part of a star-studded ensemble cast which also includes Gemma Arterton, Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans, and newcomer Harris Dickinson.

The prequel will be set during World War I and explore the origins of the Kingsman organisation. Arterton will play a nanny named Polly, who helps raise Conrad, the son of the Duke of Oxford, with "ruthless efficiency". Fiennes will play the Duke, while Dickinson will portray his heir Conrad. Reporters at Collider.com also added that Conrad will be a "cocky yet charming young hero" who’s eager to serve his country and fight in World War I, and the film will be more of a period drama than a spy thriller.

Filming is already underway in various locations around the U.K. with a base at Longcross Film Studios near Chertsey in Surrey.

Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye also revealed that the prequel will feature Daniel Bruhl, Charles Dance, Stanley Tucci, Matthew Goode, Djimon Hounsou, Alison Steadman, and Tom Hollander.

The Bird Box actor has been cast in three roles after casting directors unsuccessfully tried to find three similar-looking actors for the parts. Hollander will play King George V, the German Kaiser and the Russian tsar, who are all part of Queen Victoria’s extended family tree.

Kingsman star Taron Egerton will not appear in The Great Game, which is scheduled to be released in November, but is thought to be reprising his character Eggsy in Kingsman 3, which Vaughn is currently developing.
