Jon Hamm: 'I'm too nosy to be a good spy'

Jon Hamm has shared how he once rushed to the aid of a neighbour who had fallen from a ladder.

Jon Hamm would be a "terrible" spy as he has a tendency to talk too much.

The American actor stars in new comedy Keeping Up with the Joneses, about a suburban couple, played by Isla Fisher and Zach Galifianakis, who get caught up in an espionage scheme with their undercover neighbours. Jon plays one of the secret spies, but in reality admits he’s far from mysterious.

“I’d be a terrible secret agent in real life because I can’t keep my mouth shut,” he told Variety at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Saturday (08Oct16). “I always want to talk to people and find out what’s going on with them.”

However, Jon did share a heroic story about how he once saved his real-life neighbour after he fell off his ladder and banged his head on the ground. Running over to the elderly man, the Mad Men actor went straight into action mode.

“I got him untangled from the ladder and all of the tree branches off of him, and I undid his collar and I put some stuff on his head to put pressure on it," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "He didn't speak English so I was having a hard time explaining to him, 'Breathe, breathe, breathe.' And the ambulance came and took him away. He was fine, thank god, but it was terrifying."

Joining Jon as his onscreen super sleuth partner is Gal Gadot, who has risen to prominence since landing the role of Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and her own upcoming feature. Keeping Up with the Joneses is her first venture into comedy, and filming the flick certainly made an impression on the brunette beauty.

"It was always who was going to make who laugh first, who is going to have the best punch line, who is going to break the take because they burst out laughing," she grinned to The Hollywood Reporter.

Keeping Up with the Joneses hits cinemas later this month (Oct16).
