Greatest Ever! Our views on the Best Ever Movie Moments
Movie Cops!
With the release of Observe And Report starring Seth Rogen on 24th April 2009, it seemed fitting that Pearl & Dean runs down what it believes are the greatest ever Movie Cops!

Lt. Frank Drebin
The character Lt. Frank Drebin was first made popular in the TV Series 'Police Squad!' before making his way to the big screen in The Naked Gun triolgy.

Played by Leslie Nielsen, it never ceased to amaze the situations that the Luitenant would find himself in. You might not like yourself for it, but hey some of the gags, be it visual or one-liners, made even the harshest critics laugh, sometimes...
Lt. Frank Drebin
James Gordon - Batman Series
James Gordon the police commissioner is one of the few honest and trustyworth people in Gotham City.

Gordon has been played by a number of actors down the years. This includes the late Lyle Talbot, recently departed Pat Hingle and the present Gary Oldman (right). In some variations Gordon is credited with the invention of the iconic Bat-Signal!

"Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight." - Gordon.
Lt. Frank Drebin
Harry Callahan - Dirty Harry
"You've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?" - Harry Callahan

Now come on, who hasn't said that quote out loud before?!? You've stood in front of the mirror and acted out the scene, yes we know!

Anyway, Callahan did what ever it took to stop crime, even if it meant acting outside the realms of the law! Being played by Clint Eastwood was like a match made in heaven and thus became the defining ruthless cop!
Lt. Frank Drebin
A Robot and a Cop, what more could you ask for in a crime fighting officer?

Apparently he's the future of law enforcement, which would be slightly unnerving if true, but hey RoboCop is darn cool! Equipped with handguns, assault cannons, a rocket launcher, flamethrower and best of all a jetpack!

He brought fear into even the most hardened criminals, saying stuff like "Dead or alive, you're coming with me!" is probably why.
Lt. Frank Drebin
John McClane - Die Hard
John McClane

Detective John McClane of the New York City Police Department had to be our number 1. He's a vigilante, terrorist fighting, sharp shooting, witty, maniac but dam is he one of the coolest heroes ever?!?

Whether he's saving hostages in a Los Angeles skyscraper, foiling mercenaries at an Airport or stopping an insane bomb lover in The Big Apple, McClane is up to the job.
