what's the story
The story opens in California where an unseen man starts a huge fire dockside in San Pedro. The action then jumps back in time six weeks to begin piecing together the mystery, beginning with a police roundup of suspects (Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollak, Benicio Del Toro and Kevin Spacey) following an aborted hijacking of a gun-running truck in New York. Ultimately, the story comes full circle in what has been described as "one of the most elaborate ... solidly satisfying original crime scripts (to be written) in a long while." Upon its debut at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival: "An ironic, bang-up thriller about the wages of crime. A terrific cast of exciting actors socks over this absorbingly complicated yarn that's been spun in seductively slick fashion by director Bryan Singer."
