Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts team up for a romantic comedy about competing journalists at rival newspapers, who fall in love while trying to expose a government scandal. The story as scripted by the "BABY BOOM" writing team of Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers is said to be a tale of one-upmanship between the sexes: "A romantic comedy mystery in the tradition of 'THE THIN MAN' and 'ADAM'S RIB.'" This picture marks Shyer's first directing assignment since completing "THE FATHER OF THE BRIDE" in 1991.
